Join us on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 7:30 - 9:00 AM at the Portland Regency Hotel, 20 Milk Street, Portland, ME as Commissioner of Economic and Community Development, George Gervais discusses upcoming structural changes within state agencies in an effort to create a more business friendly state government. His remarks will address how the changes in LD 1 enacted last year and a Governorís executive order issued this fall to establish the new role of Account Executive within DECD, and business liaisons within each state agency, and how Account Executives will interact with business liaisons to help businesses access and navigate state agency programs.
Commissioner Gervais will also discuss the centralized permitting and licensing system envisioned in LD 1, and how the Account Executive role and centralized permitting structures will interact.
About the Presenter:
In his capacity leading the Department of Economic and Community Development, George Gervais is charged with developing economic sectors, promoting new businesses, growing existing businesses, and creating economic opportunity for Maine citizens. The department works closely with the Governor, the Legislature, and the private sector to accomplish this mission.
Gervais, of Hampden, has served as Assistant Commissioner, Development Program Manager and Business Development Specialist within DECD since 2008. Gervais has served as Acting Commissioner since April.
Prior to joining the Department of Economic and Community Development, Gervais served as senior loan officer at Carteret Mortgage Corp. and Dedicated Mortgage Associates, LLC. He also founded Grill Concepts, Inc., and EVO, Inc.
Gervais received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Maine Orono.
