  2017 President’s Award

  Michael O’Reilly, Bangor Savings Bank

The President’s Award is given by MEREDA's current President in recognition of someone who has significantly stepped up to the plate on MEREDA’s behalf.  This year the award is being presented to Michael O’Reilly of Bangor Savings Bank.

Mike has been an active member of MEREDA's board of directors since 2008.  During this time, he has chaired, and continues to serve on MEREDA’s membership & marketing committee, as well as the executive committee, having served as president from 2014-2016.  Leading with enthusiasm and inclusivity, Mike continues to serve as an inspiration for fellow board members and for the organization’s strategic goals. He has brought many ideas to the table over the years, including two of MEREDA’s current initiatives: the cultivation of young, up and coming members as part of the DevelopME framework, and the identification of workforce development as a crucial component for the continued success and health of Maine’s commercial real estate sector. Mike serves as Senior Vice President and Southern Maine Commercial Banking Team Lead for Bangor Savings Bank.

  2017 Public Policy Award

  Rick Licht, Licht Environmental Design

This award is presented each year to a member whose efforts have had a significant impact on public policy changes to benefit responsible real estate development in Maine.  We are proud to present this year’s award to Rick Licht for his work on MEREDA’s Public Policy Committee.

Rick is well-known by members of MEREDA’s public policy committee, where he brings his professional observations and knowledge of on-the-ground projects to bear on behalf of MEREDA’s goals. To do this, not only does he travel from Gray to Portland to attend the committee’s bi-monthly meetings during the legislative session, he also travels to Augusta to testify at public hearings to help legislators understand the real-life impacts of legislation before they vote, rallying faithfully to deliver email and telephone messages to key legislators when we have put out a legislative “call to action.”  Rick adds a critical and informed dimension to MEREDA’s work. Founder of Licht Environmental Design, LLC, Rick offers relationship-focused civil engineering, project management, design and permitting services to site development and master planned projects with a focus on sustainability within all aspects of project development.  As Principal, Rick brings over 30 years of experience and a collaborative team-oriented approach working closely with clients to create successful projects.

2017 Robert B. Patterson, Jr. Founders’ Award

  Lawrence Wold, TD Bank

This career recognition award is to acknowledge members of MEREDA who have distinguished themselves by making significant contributions to the real estate industry and/or to MEREDA over many years.  This year, the award is being presented to Lawrence Wold of TD Bank.

MEREDA has benefited significantly from Larry’s wisdom, broad experience, and unwavering support and countless contributions through the years. An active member of MEREDA’s board of directors from 1998 - 2016, Larry served as president from 2000 to 2002, and during his tenure, spearheaded a new member recruitment initiative.  Fourteen years later, the TD Bank Membership Recruitment Matching Funds Program continues to help introduce new members to the organization and has made a lasting difference in the organization’s growth and success. A very active member of the southern Maine community, Larry serves as President in Maine for TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank, and has 30 years of commercial lending experience in Maine, having joined the company in 1991 as a Commercial Loan Officer.

2017 Volunteer of the Year Award

Theresa Hodge & Josh Fifield, Bath Savings Institution & Clark Insurance

MEREDA's success is largely based on the support and commitment from its volunteer members.  Each year MEREDA presents its Volunteer of the Year Award to an individual who enthusiastically shares their time and energy working hard for something they truly care about.  This year, the award is being presented to two deserving individuals, Theresa Hodge at Bath Savings Institution and Josh Fifield at Clark Insurance.

Theresa Hodge serves on MEREDA’s Board of Directors, as well as its Membership and Marketing Committee.  Theresa also participates on the subcommittee for MEREDA's annual Strikes for Scholars" bowl-a-thon fundraiser, which in 2016, raised more than $18,000 for scholarships for Maine students. Theresa’s energy and enthusiastic commitment to the causes she supports is palpable.  Theresa is Senior Vice President and Senior Commercial Lender at Bath Savings Institution.  She began her banking career in 1986 and has been with Bath Savings since 2004.  In addition to working at commercial banks, she spent ten years during the 1990’s as a senior lender in the public sector with the Finance Authority of Maine & Coastal Enterprises, Inc.
