Join MEREDA on Thursday, April 29, 2009 from 7:30 - 9:00 AM at the Sea Dog Banquet & Conference Center, 26 Front Street, Bangor, ME as our panelist Heather Parent of Eaton Peabody identifies the tools available to a property owner to redevelop contaminated property, and outlines the steps necessary to accomplish the redevelopment.  These tools will enable a property owner to turn a property that is undesirable to one that contributes to the general economic growth of the community.  The presentation will include discussions on:

  • Liability protections for innocent landowners and prospective purchasers under the Federal Brownfields laws
  • Securing liability protections under State VRAP laws
  • Opportunities for grants for investigation and cleanup of contaminated property
  • Discussion of the VRAP Program
    • Who is eligible?
    • Who should be considering the program?
    • How do you enter the program?
    • What does the program cost?
    • What is the timing of the program?
    • Does this program work for small-scale projects?
    • What liability protections are secured?
