|MEREDA Hosts Bangor Breakfast Seminar Focusing On Stormwater Funding Alternatives|
|Sponsored by: Packard Judd Kaye and James W. Sewall Company
When: Wednesday, February 16, 2011 | Time: 7:30 – 9:00 AM
About the Event:
Buffet Breakfast: 7:30 AM ~ Program: 8:00 – 9:00 AM
Bangor and other urbanized areas in Maine are no different. Myriad legal requirements and a desire for a healthy environment are leading Bangor to plan for the removal of stormwater pollutants. This discussion will provide the audience with an understanding of the work the City of Bangor and others are doing to clean up our streams, what work is left to do, and the funding options being considered by the City to pay for this work. The discussion will inform the audience about the feasibility study currently being conducted in order to determine whether a utility district, similar to sewer and water districts, would be an appropriate funding source for Bangor. The study will project what fees would need to be generated to address stormwater in a comprehensive manner. This very informative session will explain what is required of the City and why residents and businesses may be tapped to pay fees for stormwater infrastructure, similar to fees currently paid to sewer and water utility districts.
An RSVP is requested on, or before, February 10th. Payment is expected at the time of registration. No refunds will be granted to anyone who registers, but fails to attend or who cancels after February 10, 2011.
